Kampala Backpackers has expanded its act with the contraction of a stage in the beer garden that hosts regular performances by local artistes. How this will pan out it anyone’s guess. Its not quite a nightclub (I’m told the performances don’t go on past midnight) but nor is it any longer a quiet and exclusive refuge from the hassles of Kampala. My guess is that those happy to absorb a bit of local colour will rather enjoy themselves while those looking for a quiet retreat might be less content. Note that the guest facilities, which includes the camping lawns and a small recreation area, remain separate from the entertainment area, being accessed through a private entrance.
