Kitojo Tourist Home

My name is Mark Sevier and I am a United States Peace Corps Volunteer living in Fort Portal, Uganda. In your request for ideal tourist locations, allow me the opportunity to recommend Kitojo Tourist Home; located 24 kilometers outside of Fort Portal town. Attractively situated on a small hill, this tourist home has extravagant views of the Rwenzori Mountains with a lush banana plantation ideally located just below. On a clear day, the ridges of the mountains are visible and one can actually see the snow capped peaks. Exotic wildlife surrounds the home such as the various species of birds and red tailed monkeys clambering amongst the surrounding treetops. There are four plush cottages available to tourists, each equipped with a Queen size bed; bathroom/ shower; and four windows. Large groups can stay in the family cottage, equipped to accommodate 4 people. Accommodations are available either w/ breakfast ($30) or full board ($40) per person; which includes Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. The Executive Chef cooks a variety meals ranging from local dishes to Western favorites, pleasing the palate of even the fussiest of diners. Other additional services include transport hire, allowing visitors the freedom to travel within the surrounding area. Kitojo Tourist Home is an Eco- Tourism project that supports Kitojo Integrated Development Association; a local NGO that provides medical; financial; and agricultural services to HIV/AIDS infected community members. Tours of the organization are free to all visitors and you can even participate in cultural activities such as local dances. The tourist home is located 3 km from the Crate Lakes; 8 km from Kibale National Park; and just a few hours drive to the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains and Queen Elizabeth national park. Kitojo Tourist Home is an attractive low- cost alternative to Ndali Lodge, located just 3 km from the cottages and widely regarded as being the premier lodge in Uganda.
