Andrew Roberts forwarded me the following addendum to the comments on the Fort Portal & Kibale Forest page:
Re, the comments on the two Lake Nkuruba campsites, the ‘original’ campsite is the first to be reached when approaching Rwaihamba village from Fort Portal. It is now reached by a steep vehicle track since the owner of the new, neighbouring facility has appropriated the land traversed by the original driveway. This latter campsite (reached by a slightly less precipitous track just down the road) is now simply called Enfunzi campsite. It is true that despite its short lifespan, this facility has managed to achieve a reputation as a less than straightforward operation: in addition to the chimp tracking fiasco described by your correspondent, several visitors have questioned the legitimacy of the charitable projects, including orphan support, to which revenue from this project is supposed to be directed.
Prior to the preparation of the next Bradt Uganda guide, we’d be grateful to hear from anyone with first hand experience of these activities to get a better picture – feel free to add a comment below!
