New hotels in Kampala, Lake Bunyonyi & Kibale Forest

I run a guest house called White Crest which sits on top of Lubowa hill 10kms to the city on Entebbe Rd, It has 15 large self contained rooms with a good view of Lake Victoria. We have hosted guests from many foreign countries especially Britain where we have several charity teams stay with us for their first couple nights and last night in kampala. We also have a range of vehicles for airport pickups and tours and travels. Many thanks, Simonpeter Kansiime +256 712 195653

We hereby would like to inform you readers about the creation of Nature Lodges, a hotelcompany which has in the last three months established itself in Lake Bunyoni and around Kibale Forest. Kalebas in Lake Bunyoni is not longer run by the Dutch couple as mentioned in your guide, but by Nature Lodges, who has done major renovations on the facilities. Permanent tents on raised wooden platforms are introduced, rooms got an upgrading, abolution block got improved… It stays an intimate budget option which will never get as crowded as some of it’s competitors. Kibale Forest Camp, (the former Kimbla Mantana Kibale Camp), is taken over by Nature Lodges. The new management has decided to slash the prices of this former upmarket camp, while service and quality remains the same. Currently the camp is a unique offer to stay in permanent self contained tents for a moderate price (45 single 55 double B&B). A new restaurant/bar is being constructed. For further details see – thanks Ruben Van den Hoeke.

We were scheduled to stay at the Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel in Entebbe. This morning we learned that the
hotel had been sold and is now called Libya Hotel. The service and accommodations have suffered. We are
now scheduled to stay at the new Gately Inn in Entebbe. It is owned by the same people that have Gately on Nile in Jinja. Kathy and Mike Street, Portland, Oregon

We have been developing a new resort – “Jajama Panorama” on the shore of Lake Bunyonyi near Kabale in south-west Uganda. Our web site address is We have completed four luxury self-contained cottages and we are currently converting three of our original six cottages to have self-contained showers and flush toilets. Meanwhile we have enhanced the site with landscaped gardens and planting of more trees – several hundred in all. In fact we now believe we have the best resort at Bunyonyi and offer excellent value for money. John and Agnes Jeyes (UK tel: 01923-773744)
