Great guide, but one important update. The banks Barclays and Stanbic (even the main branches) no longer change American Express Traveler’s Cheques. Neither do any other bank. Just to reiterate the points made about ATMs v Travellers Cheques – we took lots of TCs to change at Fort Portal, but were politely told there that no bank would change them outside Kampala! Luckily the ATMs worked perfectly – we will just use them next time. Kevin Hand
